How do the two included readings work?

Every journey comes with two AI-generated readings included in the app's purchase price: a "Mythic Interpretation" and a "Strengthening the Story" reading. Each becomes available once you've written enough in a journey — a short progress hint tells you how much further you have to go. A reading only ever consumes a credit once it's actually generated successfully; if something goes wrong on our end, you keep the credit.

I've used my two readings — how do I get more?

Additional readings are sold as consumable packs from within the app (Settings → Get More Readings). They're regular Apple In-App Purchases, so they're billed through your Apple ID and covered by Apple's own purchase protections and refund process.

I reinstalled the app or got a new phone — where did my purchased readings go?

Your reading credits are tied to your Apple ID, not to a single device or install. If a purchase doesn't show up automatically, look for a "Restore Purchases" option in Settings — this re-links any packs you've already bought without charging you again.

Is what I write private?

Everything you write is stored on your own device. It only ever leaves your device if you actively request an AI reading, in which case the relevant text is sent once, generates your reading, and is not kept afterward as a record tied to you. It's never used to train any AI model. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

Is this app a substitute for therapy?

No. My Hero's Journey is a tool for creative reflection and self-understanding, not therapy, counseling, or medical advice — including the AI-generated readings. If you're working through something difficult, please reach out to a qualified therapist, counselor, or doctor. If you're in crisis, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis helpline in your area.

How do I delete a journey, or all my data?

You can delete an individual journey directly within the app — swipe left on it in your journey list, or use the delete option in its detail screen. Deletion is permanent and removes the reflection text with it. Because everything lives on your device rather than on a server we control, uninstalling the app removes all of your data at once; there's no separate copy for us to hold onto or delete on our end.

Something crashed, or isn't behaving correctly

Write to me with what you were doing when it happened, your device model, and your iOS version if you know it — a screenshot helps enormously if the problem is visual. I'm the sole developer, so reports go straight to the person who can actually fix them.

Can I get a refund?

All payments — the app purchase itself and any reading packs — are processed and billed by Apple, so refunds are handled entirely through Apple's own process rather than by me directly. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com or via Settings → your Apple ID → Media & Purchases on your device.
